TAI LONG WAN
Tai Long Wan translates to Big Wave Bay. This is not to be confused with the Big Wave Bay near the city beaches. Tai Long Wan is at the foot hills of the East Sai Kung Country Park, which offers some of the best walking trails and camping sites in the Hong Kong Country Park. The area consists of four beaches, which are: (from South to North) Sai Wan, Ham Tin Wan, Tai Wan and Tung Wan. The main surf beach is Tai Wan - 700 metres of unspoilt, uncrowded virgin beach with no development or infrustructure. The name Big Wave Bay is a bit of a misnomer, because the waves rarely exceed two metres and during the Summer months are normally less than a metre, offering ideal conditions for beginners. It is a gentle sloping beach with a sandy bottom, which is once again the perfect environment for those that are learning to surf.
